Biotechnology is truly an interdisciplinary subject with its roots in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Physics and Mathematics. It finds its application in numerous fields like agriculture, food, environment, health care and veterinary sciences. The biotechnology industry employed millions people and revenues have almost crossed trillions of dollars. The application of Biotechnology in public life has revolutionized health scenario in the developed countries and is creating an impact on the disease pattern of the developing nations. The present Biotechnology innovations are promising towards development of food security and health management. Increased understanding of Biological phenomenon along with inventions of cutting edge technologies have resulted in the emergence of new area of research and development. Besides, computational tools have revolutionized the approach to biological problems.

Bioadmnrmatics also a cross-disciplinary activity, and includes aspects of computer science, software engineering, mathematics and molecular biology. It is far more than data management and has attained the status of a new scientific discipline. The key to future utilization of sequence data will be to develop admnrmatics technology that transforms this data into admnrmation that is useful for diagnosis and therapy. The Bioadmnrmatics Tools are now routinely used by wet-bench biologists in their research. Advances in Gene therapy, Immunotechnologies, drug-delivery systems, DNA vaccines, and rational drug design based on genome sequencing and on the three-dimensional structure of proteins and other molecules made Medical Biotechnology an important component in diagnosis and therapy of diseases. The population growth and Industrialization have imparted new problems towards environmental management for future generations, the advances in Environmental Biotechnology will be useful to clean up the pollutants and maintain ecological balance.
